The Differences of Educational System in Indonesia and
Australia
Each country in the world has it's own educational system. They are different from one another. The differences are there to suit each country. However, we can learn from the differences in order to improve the educational system in our country. Thus, the educational system in this case the school system in Indonesia is different to that of Australia in these aspects: school types, classroom size, school subjects.
First of all, the types of school in Indonesia can be classified into state school and private school. In Australia, schools are also divided into state school or public school and private school. However, most of the state schools are separated into girls and boys schools. There are also co-ed schools in which boys and girls go to the same school. This is mostly for high school. Besides that, high schools in Indonesia are divided into junior high school and senior high school, while in Australia, it is just high school where students study as juniors for 4 years and seniors for 2 years.
Next, the classroom size shows significant difference, especially in state schools. In Indonesia, there can be as many as 40 to 45 students in one classroom, while in Australian classrooms generally there can be about 20 to 30 students.
Finally, the number of subjects taught at schools in Indonesia is different to that in Australian schools. Take for example in high schools in Indonesia, the higher the level, the same number or more subjects you will learn. However in Australian schools, the higher the level the fewer subjects you will learn. You will probably end up with only 5 to 6 subjects the most by the time you become seniors.
In conclusion, there are several differences that we can find between Indonesian and Australian schools. Hopefully we can learn from each other for the sake of better education in our country.
